For this exhibition, artist Dominique Pétrin will turn the gallery into an all-encompassing work of art. The exhibit will be comprised of hundreds of silkscreened prints featuring Greco-Roman ornamentation, Music Hall theatrics, and Baroque kitsch motifs layered to create an immersive and visually cacophonous environmental experience.
Born in 1976 she is presently studying Cognitive Sciences at the Université de Montréal. She has exhibited and performed at La Centrale in Montreal, Biennale d’art performatif de Rouyn- Noranda in Quebec, Frieze Art Fair in London, Festival MUTEK in Montreal, Festival d’Avignon in France, and the Festival Transmediale in Berlin. She has collaborated with musician and performer Georges Rebboh, artist Sophie Calle and choreographer Lynda Gaudreau, as well as the band Jerusalem in my Heart. Working in silk-screening and installation, she is currently integrating hypnosis and other consciousness altering strategies into her projects.
