Making Our Mark I
In 2013, Martha Street Studio partnered with Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba (formerly Arts & Disability Network Manitoba) to present a new initiative called Making Our Mark. Through 18 months of self-guided mentorship, 5 artists with disabilities had the opportunity to explore the art of printmaking and digital imaging and discover how these can enhance their artistic expression. This initiative was the first of its kind in the Winnipeg arts community, supporting the full inclusion of artists with disabilities within the contemporary arts stream, through discourse and skills development identified by the artists themselves.
The first program was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and The Winnipeg Foundation. A first exhibition of works produced, was held in the main gallery from October 24th to November 28th, 2014, and participating artists were:
Angel Calnek
Alice Crawford
Susan Gibson
Susan Lamberd
Jess Turner
