Artist in Residence: Jacinthe Loranger

Martha Street Studio is pleased to welcome Jacinthe Loranger (Montréal) for a three-month long residency as part of the Québec-Manitoba artist-in-residence program. During her time here she will  develop a new series of work that combines screenprinting, ceramics and paper maché. In this work she will create new narratives and mythologies from a variety of cultural references that look at ideas of sexuality, femininity, life, death, normality and strangeness.

Artist Biography
Jacinthe Loranger works and lives in Montreal. She is an interdisciplinary artist who’s work combines print media, sculpture, collage, performance and installation. She has participated in many artist residencies and has exhibited in Canada, the USA and France. In recent years she has presented a number of solo exhibitions, most notably, Haunt-me, Haunt-me. Do it Again. at L’Écart, (Rouyn-Noranda, QC),  I am the one, Orgasmatron at Artist Proof Gallery (Calgary AB), and Neon Knight is a Digital Bitch at Eastern Edge, (St-John’s, NL.) She is presently pursuing an MFA in Print Media at Concordia University in Montreal. She has received several grants from Quebec and Canada Arts Council. Upon entering Concordia University, she was awarded the Graduate Studio Arts Advisory Committee Award in 2013, and she also received the Concordia Merit scholarship from School of Graduate Studies.
